To provide a similar-metal welding solid wire, which attains both of an excellent bead shape of a welded joint and high cryogenic toughness thereof when welding 9% Ni steel to each other by a highly efficient MIG welding method, and to provide a weld metal formed by the solid wire.
The similar-metal welding solid wire for a 9% Ni steel base material contains REM and O at a specific ratio in such a way that a trace amount of minute oxides of REM, which amount is within the range of not hindering the cryogenic toughness of a welded joint 1a, is formed in a weld metal 3, and that an amount of oxygen, which amount is controlled to form an excellent bead shape, is supplied with Al and Ti restrained. Further, an argon gas that does not contain carbon dioxide or contains only a trace amount thereof is used as a shield gas in a MIG welding method. Thus, both of an excellent bead shape of a welded joint 1a and high cryogenic toughness thereof are attained.
