Abstract:
MPC1001 derivatives represented by the general formula (I) or their pharmaceutically acceptable salts; medicines, particularly antimicrobial or antitumor agents, containing the derivatives or the salts; and Cladorrhinum sp. MPC1001 having an ability to produce the derivatives, wherein R?1¿ is hydrogen, hydroxyl, or lower alkylcarbonyloxy; R?2¿ is mercapto or lower alkylthio; R?3¿ is mercapto or lower alkylthio; R?4¿ is hydrogen; and R?5¿ is formyl, with the provisos that R?1¿ and R?2¿ may be united to form a bond, that R?2¿ and R?3¿ may be united to form -(S)¿n?- (wherein n is an integer of 1 to 5), that R?3¿ and R?4¿ may together represent O or S, and that R?4¿ and R?5¿ may be united to form CH¿2?-, -CH(OH)-, or -CH(OCOR?4a¿)- (wherein R?4a¿ is lower alkyl).
