Abstract:
Disclosed is a solid-state image pickup device (100) which is provided with a plurality of two-dimensionally arranged pixels (106). Each of the pixels (106) is provided with: a light absorbing layer (110), which converts light into signal charges; a signal readout circuit (118), which is formed on the light absorbing layer (110) surface on the reverse side of the light inputting surface, and which reads out the signal charges; a metal layer (111), which is formed on the light inputting surface side of the light absorbing layer (110), has an opening (120) formed therein, and transmits light in a wavelength region that corresponds to the shape of the opening (120) to the light absorbing layer (110); and a drive circuit (107), which applies a voltage to the metal layer (111), and generates, in the light absorbing layer (110), potential gradient for collecting the signal charges.
