Abstract:
Provided is a spark plug that makes it possible to ensure transfer of heat from an insulator to a main metal fitting, and easily fix a heat transfer member to the insulator. This spark plug is provided with a cylindrical insulator extending in the direction of an axis from a distal end side to a posterior end side, and a cylindrical main metal fitting that is fixed to the outer periphery of the insulator and has a male thread formed on part of the outer peripheral surface thereof. The insulator has a groove formed at a portion that is on the outer peripheral side thereof and overlaps in the direction of the axis with the male thread of the main metal fitting, at least a part of a heat transfer member being arranged in the groove. In a cross-section passing through the axis and running along the axis, the groove becomes increasingly shallow going toward a distal end-side opening end or a posterior end-side opening end of the groove.
