Abstract:
SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an article direction determination device 12 that determines an orientation of a container 1 (an article) having a lateral surface composed of a plurality of plane surfaces P and having a polygonal cross-sectioned shape. The article direction determination device comprises: line light irradiation means 41 that irradiates the lateral surface of the container 1 with line light L; photographing means 42 that photographs the line light L projected to the lateral surface of the container 1 from a direction different from the line light; and determination means 43 that determines the orientation of the container 1 from a tilt angle of the line light L photographed by the photographing means 42 and projected to the plane surface P of the container 1.EFFECT: An orientation of a polygonal cross-sectioned shape can be determined by non-contact.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
