Abstract:
To provide a functional wood, a building material, and a manufacturing method of the functional wood, which have a good appearance while having a function in a wood substrate.SOLUTION: A functional wood 10 comprises a wood substrate 1. The wood substrate 1 has a front face 11 and a rear face 12 on both sides in a thickness direction D1. At least one through hole 2 is formed on the wood substrate 1. The through hole 2 has a center axis Ax1 along the thickness direction D1 and penetrates the wood substrate in the thickness direction D1. The opening area of the through hole 2 is smaller on the front face 11 side than on the rear face 12 side. At least one of an inner peripheral surface 21 of the through hole 2 and a peripheral part 22 of the through hole 2 in the wood substrate 1 has a burn mark 3. The burn mark 3 is more easily visible when viewed from the rear face 12 side than when viewed from the front face 11 side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
