Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound, useful as a stock for synthesizing a monomer for high-molecular-weight charge-transfer material which satisfies all of the basic electrophotographic characteristics. SOLUTION: This compound is an aldehyde compound shown by formula I (Ar1, Ar2, Ar4 and Ar5 are each an arylene; Ar3 and Ar6 are each an aryl; and X is O, S, SO, SO2, CO or the like). It is obtained by formylation of a diamine compound shown by formula II. For example, phosphorus oxychloride is added dropwise to N,N-dimethyl formamide kept cool by ice in a flow of nitrogen, to form a Willsmeyer reagent. Next, a diamine compound shown by formula III, added dropwise as the DMF solution, is reacted with the reagent, with stirring, to form an intermediate for immonium salt, which is hydrolyzed to obtain the yellow crystal shown by the formula C38H28N2O2S. As described above, the monomer for satisfactory, high-molecular-weight, charge-transfer material can be obtained.
