Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To vary a polarization characteristic as to an antenna assembly capable of electrically varying a radiation pattern and a wireless communication apparatus mounted with the antenna assembly.
SOLUTION: A parasitic element 2 is arranged where it is coupled with a driven element 1 connected to a wireless circuit across a space. The parasitic element 2 is formed by joining together a plurality of linear elements 2a, 2b, and 2c arranged in the respectively different directions. A plurality of variable impedance elements 3a, 3b, and 3c are inserted halfway into the different linear elements 2a, 2b, and 2c. The driven element and parasitic element are coupled together across the space to perform radiation, and current distributions of the plurality of linear elements can individually be varied by controlling impedance values of the variable impedance elements, so the polarization characteristic can be varied.
