Title:
BIOLOGICAL JELLY-FORMING AGENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3390543
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a biological jelly-forming agent containing a specific benzalaniline derivative as an active ingredient and used for forming a biological jelly layer on the surface of an underwater structure in order to inhibit the adhesion of aquatic pollutive organisms to the structure without using an antifouling agent.
CONSTITUTION: The biological jelly-forming agent contains a benzalaniline derivative of the formula [n, m are 0-5; X is halogen, 1-20C hydrocarbon, 1-20C alkoxy, nitro, amino, OH, carboxyl, ester, cyano, azo, azomethine (but the compound wherein n and m are 0, the compound wherein n is 0, m is 1, and X is 4'-methyl, 4'-chloro or 2'-hydro, and the compound wherein n is 1, m is 0, and Y is 4-halogen, nitro or OH are excluded)] as an active ingredient. The biological jelly-forming agent can inhibit the adhesion of aquatic pollutive organisms without using an antifouling agent. The biological jelly-forming agent is added to a proper coating composition and subsequently applied on the surface of a structure used in water.
