To provide a clamp device capable of obtaining a high clamping force or high holding moment by a simple structure, and a clamp element used for the clamp device.
The clamp element 4 has an inner cylinder 5 for enclosing a spindle 3 to be clamped, an outer cylinder 6 concentrically arranged at the inner cylinder, and a diaphragm 7 for combining the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder. A curve of the diaphragm is changed by applying a force to the clamp element since the diaphragm is formed in a pot shape. A distance between a spindle and a clamp division 8 of the inner cylinder, a distance between the spindle and a clamp division 9 of the outer cylinder, or a distance between the spindle and a clamp division 22 of the diaphragm is changed on the basis of these changes. Thus, the spindle is clamped by the clamp element since the force is applied to the clamp element, or the clamping of the spindle is released.
