To provide a cleaning tool for an image reader which is capable of surely removing dirt on the sheet contact face of a glass member.

An image formed on a sheet is read by an image reading means while bringing the sheet into contact with the glass member. The sheet contact face of the glass member is cleaned by a cleaning tool which has a scraping member for scraping dirt on the sheet contact face and a wiping member 103 for wiping away dirt on the sheet contact face and is so configured that the scraping member 105 and the wiping member 103 are simultaneously brought into press-contact with the sheet contact face.
