Abstract:
To provide a conductive elastic roller which prevents sticking to an image bearing member etc., and toner contamination and excels in economical efficiency, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same.
The conductive roller obtained by modifying the peripheral surface of a roller has a surface modified on different treatment levels in a thrust direction of the peripheral surface of the roller. In the method for manufacturing the conductive roller, the peripheral surface of a roller is modified by a modifying process selected from exposure to ultraviolet radiation and exposure to an electron beam by varying at least one of illuminance of exposure and exposure time in a thrust direction of the peripheral surface of the roller.
