To provide a installing method for a contact to a connector housing, whereby it is possible to assure a large holding force of the lead of the contact to the connector housing, increase the fastening force to a printed circuit board, and prevent generation of a warp at the time of molding the housing.

A connector housing 15 is equipped with an accommodation chamber 16 to accommodate and hold the socket body 12 of a socket contact 11 and an insert hole 17 stretching approx. parallel with the accommodation chamber 16, and a thin and long lead member 13 provided continuously at the end of the socket body 12 is subjected to a bending process so that a bend 31 and a straight lead portion 13' extending approx. parallel with the socket body 12 in continuity to the bend 31 are formed previously, and the socket body 12 of the socket contact 11 is inserted and accommodated in the chamber 16, and at the same time, the straight lead portion 13' is inserted through the insert hole 17. Then a protruding end of the straight lead portion 13' is folded to under the housing 15 so that a leg 14 for connection is formed.
