A feeding passage of pressurized air to a picking nozzle 13 is composed of a parallel passages for feeding pressurized air under a low pressure and that under a high pressure in an air jet loom capable of feeding the pressurized air to the picking nozzle 13, then jetting the pressurized air from the picking nozzle 13 and thereby inserting a weft yarn 2 together with the jetted air into a warp yarn shedding 16. The deviation Δθe of the weft yarn arrival time Se from the standard weft yarn arrival time for the picked weft yarn 2 is sensed during the picking operation. The high-pressure air jetting period and the picking starting time are changed on the basis of the deviation Δθe.
