Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lighten a load relating to a collating process and largely shorten a collating time in image collating device e.g. a device for collating fingerprint image data.
SOLUTION: A reference circle A, set with plural reference points Pk, is arranged on a registered fingerprint image α and gradation data of a point corresponding to each reference point Pk are calculated from pixel data of surrounding four pixels and are set as a reference data Ek. The same reference circle B as the reference circle A is arranged on a collating fingerprint image βand the circle B is rotated by 1° at each moving position, while moving it in X, Y directions, and then the gradation data at each point Pk at each moving rotating position are calculated from surrounding four pixel image levels and set to be a reference data Qk. The correlation coefficient of the data Ek and the data Qk is calculated, and the reference circle B having the maximum correlation coefficient is selected. When the maximum value is at or above a threshold, the registered fingerprint image α and the collating fingerprint image β are determined to be the same fingerprint image.
