Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus which enable fast and easily adjustable measurement of dimensions of the outer diameter, the inner diameter and the eccentricity of a cylindrical object based on images at a low cost of the apparatus.
SOLUTION: The degree of displacement of an edge part of the inner circumference 2 of an cylindrical object from a reference position is measured based on images by an image processor 8 at two points almost facing each other over the entire inner circumference thereof and the dimensions of the outer diameter, the inner diameter and the eccentricity of the object are calculated by a fixed expression only from the degree of displacement. A means for photographing the two inner circumferential edge parts over the entire inner circumference thereof is constituted of a rotary drive mechanism 6 which rotates the cylindrical object at a home position contacting a V groove of a mount base 5 by which the outer circumference of the cylindrical object 1 is determined and a line sensor camera 7. This accomplishes the measurement of dimensions by one image pickup means and one image measurement means to simplify the structure of the apparatus thereby speeding up the dimensional measurement at a lower cost. Thus, this single arrangement of the image pickup means facilitates adjustment and calibration for maintaining accuracy in the positioning of a photographing line 3, the focus and magnification in photographing and the like.
