Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a directional antenna system of reduced transmitting output and satisfactory utilizing efficiency of a communication channel by allowing the base station of mobile object communication to estimate the number and the position of mobile stations existing in its own area and to communicate an antenna directional beam in the direction of the estimating result after then.
SOLUTION: A signal from a mobile station received by an array antenna 11 is converted into the signal of an intermediate frequency or a base band frequency by a frequency conversion means 14, and an incoming direction estimating means 12 estimates the direction of the existence of the mobile station through the use of this signal. An antenna directional control means 13 varies the amplitude phase of the signal of the intermediate frequency or the base band frequency, directs the directional beam of the antenna to the estimating result of the incoming direction and communicates with the mobile station to communicate by small transmitting power.
