Abstract:
PURPOSE:To realize the track following control without using a servo surface, by integrating the speed signal related to the moving speed of a head and then applying the high frequency component of the integrated signal to the position signal obtained from a servo track. CONSTITUTION:A speed detecting element 7 functions as a tachometer which interlocks head moving means 2 and 3 and generates a speed signal showing the moving speed of a head (i.e., the output of the element 3). An integration circuit 8 performs the time integration of the speed signal and delivers the high frequency component of the integrated signal in a track following operation period in the form of a position signal 10. Therefore the signal 10 is added to a position signal 9 delivered from a servo selector during a track following operation. This ensures a high band loop compensation and increases sufficiently the band width of a servo loop up to a high band. As a result, it is possible to maintain accurately the head on a track during a track following operation.
