Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distributed media transmission system which can communicate multimedia data, such as the media selected matters, audios and/or videos, etc., in real time in high qualities without relying upon the retry technique of delay causing transmission.
SOLUTION: MPEs 12a-12e communicate with an MC 16 through a multi- casting network 14. A data stream is distributed to the MPEs 12a-12e by using a nonhierarchical encoding technique and expressed as a set of the components of a sub-stream which can be reconstructed even when the number of the components is smaller than that of all components. The permission control to multicast sessions is managed by a distributing method. A permission control unit 18 opens a multicast stream so that the next permission control may be decided by means of the MPEs 12a-12e. The session management, etc., is performed in accordance with an RTCP(real time control protocol) and the above-mentioned components are transmitted based on an RTP(real time protocol).
