PURPOSE: To reduce energy loss by generating a magnetic field in the axial direction and utilizing the substantial whole components of the magnetic field as the force of a pump.
CONSTITUTION: An electromagnetic pump is composed of a hollow cylindrical body 2 including a solenoid coil 1, to which single-phase AC voltage is applied, and end walls 3, 4 respectively closing the opposed end sections of the hollow cylindrical body 2. A large number of inflow ports 5 for a conductive fluid are bored to the side face of the hollow cylindrical body 2, and an outlet 6 for the conductive fluid is bored to one end wall 3. When high-frequency currents are caused to flow through the solenoid coil 1, the conductive fluid is sucked from the inflow ports 5, and flows out of the outlet 6.
