PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of installations and obtain a high-quality product, by providing equipment for forming an oil from waste plastics with a plurality of raw material mixing tanks before the step of thermal decomposition to mix the raw material with a high-temperature decomposition oil by stirring and to release and remove hydrogen chloride.
CONSTITUTION: Preceding the installations for processing waste plastics to form an oil, i.e., a tank 3 for thermally decomposing plastics by heating to about 400-450°C and a tank 4 on the downstream side for the catalytic decomposition of the thermal decomposition gas, at least two raw material mixing tanks 2 having a means of agitation and circulating a melt are installed. In the mixing tanks, alternately supplied waste plastics and high-temperature thermal decomposition oil sent from the thermal decomposition tank are mixed by agitation or circulation and, when PVC is contained, kept at about 250-350°C for at least about 3 to 5 hr to completely release hydrogen chloride contained in the raw material. The discharged gas is sent to a water washing tower 8 to make it harmless. This equipment requires no high-cost corrosion-resistant material and gives a high-quality product oil free from hydrogen chloride through a continuous operation.
