Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a subject fiber-reinforced resin composition that can lower its coefficient of dynamic friction, when the composition is molded in a sliding member and can increase its abrasion resistance without damage to the counter part even under unlubricated and dried conditions by impregnating woven fabric of polyethylene terephthalate with an unsaturated polyester resin.
SOLUTION: A woven fabric of polyethylene terephthalate fiber is impregnated with an unsaturated polyester resin, for example, a vinyl ester resin prepared by reaction of acrylic or methacrylic acid with an epoxy resin (for example, a bisphenol-A type) in an amount of 15-60vol.% to give the objective composition. In a preferred embodiment, a powder for solid lubrication with an average particle size of 1-50μm, made of tetrafluoroethylene resin is added to the unsaturated polyester resin in an amount of (3-15vol.%. The woven fabric is made of polyethylene terephthalate continuous filament yarns or spun yarns. This composition is formed to sliding members by the hand lay up method or the press-molding method. This sliding member scarcely damage its counter part made of a soft metal such as aluminum even under unlubricated and dried conditions.
