Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of a disorder in the shape or a hole of a plate in a rolling process by holding a preceding billet and a succeeding billet respectively with a pair of clamps, heating, pressurizing, and jointing them.
CONSTITUTION: Both tip parts of a preceding billet A and a succeeding billet B, are held respectively at least three points along in the plate width direction between a pair of clamps 1a to 1c, and between a pair of clamps 2a to 2c. In this state, the tip part areas of the billets A and B, are heated to rise a temperature by applying an alternating magnetic field with an induction heating coil C arranged between both billets A and B, and simultaneously with or succeeding the above process, both billets are joined by applying a pressurizing treatment. For instance, when comparing the case the tip parts of the billet are heated to rise a temperature and are pressurized to join by holding them at two points with a clamp, using a low carbon billet with the case of performing continuous hot rolling after a similar treatment by holding them at three points, the case of holding them at three points has such advantages that a deformation of ≥3% steep occurs hardly and a hole is not made.
