PURPOSE: To make it possible to insert desired rule marks automatically on a mask when preparing a printed matter by calculating positional coordinates including rule marks of desired width automatically outside from a picture part.
CONSTITUTION: The part of picture 3 is allocated in a specified position on a black copy ground paper 1 according to allocation information in a controller 40. This arrangement can be confirmed by a CRT display unit 42. When necessary size of rule marks is designated by an inputting device 43, the part 2 of rule marks is displayed on the CRT display unit 42 and when the position is acceptable, a mask 4 is prepared. In this case, if the size of rule marks is inputted, designated size is added to the data of the part of picture 3 inputted to the controller 40, that is, the positional information of coordinate, and converted to the coordinate position of the mask 4. As the coordinate position of the part of the picture 3 remains without change, the exact position is ensured when the part of picture is stuck on the mask.
