Abstract:

To provide a device for allowing progressive driving by arranging first electrodes so that respective sub electrodes of two adjacent first electrodes face to each other in the row direction, arranging second electrodes between parallel sub electrodes, and placing barrier ribs between ends of sub electrodes and a main electrode facing to them.

Bus electrodes 420 (420-1-420-4) are arranged on barrier ribs, and projection electrodes 410a, 410b that are connected to the bus electrodes 420 and comprise transparent electrodes are formed in upper and lower discharge cells C1, C2. These bus electrodes and projection electrodes form display electrodes X1, Y1, X2, Y2. Discharge between the projection electrodes 410a, 410b facing to each other in the discharge cells C1, C2 is designed not to expand to upper and lower adjacent discharge cells (for example, from C1 to C2) by an operation of the barrier ribs 290. Projecting barrier ribs 290c are formed so as to suppress discharge between an end of the projection electrode 410a and the bus electrode 420-2 facing to the end.
