Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to make the distribution of heat in a brake drum uniform and to suppress the deformation of the drum.
SOLUTION: The eddy current deceleration device comprises a brake drum 7 coupled to a rotary shaft, an immovable guide cylinder 10 made of nonmagnetic material arranged in the drum 7 and coupling many ferromagnetic plates 25 opposed to the inner periphery 7a of the drum 7 with an equal interval in the circumferential direction, and magnet support rings 14A, 14B made of magnetic materials arranged in the cylinder 10 to couple many magnets 14a, 14b opposed to the plates 15 at the time of braking. The outer periphery 25a and the inner periphery 25b of the plate 25 are deviated axially of the drum 7, and the axial center of the outer periphery 25a of the plate 25 is brought substantially into coincidence with the axial center of the drum 7.
