Title:
HOT MELT COMPOSITION AND ITS USE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3437779
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot-melt composition that suppresses the cold brittleness and the hot fluidity with excellent flexibility and can readily adhere to and peels off from the substrate and has excellent quality as a cushioning material, a damping material and an industrial sealing material.
SOLUTION: This hot-melt composition comprises 100 pts.wt. of a styrene thermoplastic elastomer having an intrinsic viscosity [η] of ≥1 dl/g and 200-3,000 pts.wt. of a liquid softening agent selected from process oil, liquid rubber, and their modified products. This composition has (a) a softening point of 120-130°C according to the ring and ball method; (b) no occurrence of cracking, when the compression strain of ≥75% is loaded under the atmosphere of from -30°C to +40°C; and (c) it does not flow, when it is left under no load in an atmosphere at 100°C for 24 hours. When the formulation of the liquid softening agent is 500-1,200 pts.wt., the composition is useful as an industrial sealing material, while 1,200-3,000 pts.wt. is useful as a cushioning material or a damping material.
