Abstract:
To provide a method capable of quantitatively and highly sensitively analyzing biopolymers containing saccharides, particularly oligosaccharides.SOLUTION: It is discovered that: a substituent which increases water solubility is introduced into a mother skeleton of BODIPY (boron-dipyrromethene) which is a type of fluorescent dye used for protein analysis, further a substituted aryl group is introduced at a 5-position of the dipyrromethene skeleton; then, BODIPY, which is known to emit almost no fluorescence in an aqueous solution, causes a decrease in polarity around a molecule when it binds to an oligosaccharide, and in response to the decrease in polarity, it emits strong and dramatically stable fluorescence in an aqueous solution. Further, it becomes possible to introduce a saccharide-selective functional group as a substituent of an aryl group. Thus, a hybrid fluorescent probe which is highly sensitive and can be selective for various saccharides is provided.SELECTED DRAWING: None
