To provide an image forming apparatus which includes a fan motor and prevents a decrease of suction force of the fan motor due to deposition of paper powder.

An image forming apparatus 100 includes image forming means which forms an image on a sheet and a fan motor 301 formed by combining a motor and a fan as suction means of a paper ejection device 300. Paper powder detached from sheets deposits on the fan when it is not moving. When image forming is not performed, a CPU 200 performs an inching control by which the fan motor is intermittently brought into fine motion. By this, acceleration is given to the fan and the paper powder having a light weight detaches from the fan. Therefore, the suction force of the fan motor does not decrease and the purpose of the fan motor in the image forming apparatus is not impeded.
