Abstract:
PURPOSE:To effectively use a medium by changing successively a boundary so as to make a ratio of a data area and a substitutive area always constant. CONSTITUTION:A partition 210 (the data area 211 and the substitutive area 212) and a partition 220 (the data area 221 and the substitutive area 222) are set in an area of an optical disk memory 1 and a management table 201 at the time of nonrecording, and the area ratio is determined as a value C. The area 211 is occupied until a pointer 216, the area 221 being until pointer 218. Now, when a data is written in an optional area in the area 220, an operation is worked to decide a temporary pointer, and the size of the substitutive area to the remaining data area in the partition 210 is calculated with the value C, so as to be added to the pointer to make a new pointer 217. Even when the substitutive area or the data area is in excess in the partition, a new boundary is made by adding the above size to the pointer by using the area ratio C. By this constitution, the medium can effectively be used without generating any useless data area and substitutive area.
