PURPOSE: To provide a lattice-like three-dimensional woven fabric for composite materials having light weights and excellent mechanical characteristics by mutually perpendicularly intersecting three dimensional yarns, each comprising twisted fibers produced by twisting plural element fibers, and mutually interlacing the respective element fibers at the intersecting point.

CONSTITUTION: Three dimensional yarns 1, 2, 3 each comprising twisted fibers produced by twisting plural element fibers 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b are mutually perpendicularly intersected, and the element fibers 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b are separated from each other locally at a place near the intersection 4 to form openings 1c, 2c, and 3c. The element wires 1a, 2a, 3a of the three-dimensional yarns 1, 2, 3 are passed through the openings 1c, 2c, 3c, respectively, to form a three-dimensional lattice in a state that the three-dimensional yarns 1, 2, 3 are mutually interlaced, thereby providing a three-dimensional woven fabric free from the disorder of the arrangement of the woven fabric tissue caused by the movement of the cross section when the woven fabric is wound up or when a matrix is filled into the woven fabric.
