Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a substituted phenylphenol or substituted phenolic biphenyl compound having specific leukotriene antagonistic activity, and useful for treating diseases or symptoms characteristic of the excessive liberation of leukotriene B4.
CONSTITUTION: This new compound is expressed by formula I {R1 is an alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy, halo, R2-substituted phenyl, etc.; R2 and R3 are each H, a halo, OH, an alkyl, an alkoxy, etc.; X is O, S, CO, SH2, etc.; Y is O or CH2, or X-Y is CH=CH or C≡C; Z is a bond or alkylidenyl; A is a bond, O, S, CH=CH, etc.; R4 is the same as R6, or a group of formula II to formula VI [R5 is H or an alkyl; R6 is COOH, 5-tetrazolyl, etc.; R7 is H, an alkyl, benzyl, etc.; K is CO or CH(OH); W is a bond or divalent hydrocarbon group; G is a divalent hydrocarbon group; T is a bond, CH2, O, NH, etc.; (p) and (t) are each 0 or 1]}, e.g. 2-(2-propyl-3-(3-(2-ethyl-4-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-hydroxyphenoxy) propoxy)phenoxy)-benzoic acid.
