Title:
LIGHT-EMITTING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3708730
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a light-emitting device, wherein phosphor is sufficiently excited by a light of short wavelength of at most 450 nm such as a blue light and UV rays and light emission of high luminance is obtained.
SOLUTION: A GaN based semiconductor laser 1, generating a laser light L1 whose wavelength is at most 450 nm, is used as a light source for optical pumping, and phosphor 2 is so combined that fluorescence L2 in a visible region is generated by excitation of the laser light L1. When a GaN based LED is used as the light source for optical pumping, a recessed part is formed in a laminated body, composed of GaN based crystal layer constituting the LED from the upper surface, the light-emitting part of a light-emitting layer is exposed on the inner side surface of the recessed part, and phosphor is arranged in the recessed part.
