Abstract:
To control the extinction ratio of optical pulses with higher accuracy.SOLUTION: A light source unit includes a continuous light source for generating continuous light and a modulator for modulating continuous light using a light pulse generation signal and an extinction ratio control signal and generating a light pulse train. A turnout bifurcates the light pulse train, outputting one optical pulse train to the outside and taking the other light pulse train as a light pulse train to be measured. A measurement unit includes a light gate unit for generating a light gate train in which light gates are cyclically arranged in a row on the time base and outputting a passed light pulse train that is the light pulse train to be measured in which light pulses are cyclically arranged on the time base that has passed through the light gate train, light intensity acquisition means for acquiring the average light intensity Gated(τ) of the passed light pulse train when one of the light gates is delayed τ from one of the light pulses, and extinction ratio control signal generation means for generating an extinction ratio control signal on the basis of the average light intensity Gated(τ).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
