To provide a liquid level measuring method for measuring the level of liquid surface using the picture image capable of measuring the liquid level with an accuracy higher than one pixel of the image.
The liquid level is photographed in the condition that an image pickup element is rotated a little round the optical axis to obtain an image of liquid surface, and therein addition is made row by row in the range where the liquid can exists. Then, using the addition value of determined of each row, the position to show the center value of the addition value of the space over the liquid and the addition value of inside the liquid is determined by means of interpolation. Consequently, the position of the liquid surface can be measured with a finer accuracy than the pixel of the image pickup element.
