Abstract:
PURPOSE: To mold a preform in a short time, which improves drastically strength and rigidity and has a high volumetric ratio.
CONSTITUTION: Prepreform is molded by sucking and removing water 2 from a dispersion 5 produced by dispersing whisker 1 of potassium titanate into the water. After the prepreform is dried without passing through a compression process, it is fired by heating and holding for a fixed time at 1200-1300°C, volumetric contraction is made to occur and a preform 9 having a fixed volumetric ratio is obtained.
