Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a therapeutic agent for cancer.SOLUTION: According to the present invention, a method for treating a human patient susceptible to or diagnosed with a tumor in which ErbB2 protein is expressed comprises: (a) treating the patient with a therapeutically effective amount of an anti-ErbB2 antibody; (b) surgically removing the tumor; and (c) treating the patient with a therapeutically effective amount of an anti-ErbB2 antibody or of a chemotherapeutic agent. Here, the tumor overexpresses ErbB2 protein. The antibody binds to epitope 4D5 within the ErbB2 extracellular domain sequence. The antibody is a humanized 4D5 anti-ErbB2 antibody. The chemotherapeutic agent is a taxoid. The taxoid is paclitaxel or doxetaxel.SELECTED DRAWING: None
