To provide a member driving device capable of moving a member to be driven to an aimed position in a shorter moving time with high stopping accuracy while coping with the occurrence of abnormality.
A CPU 101 designates a focus driving circuit 104 to drive a motor M3 in the case of moving a focusing lens. It controls to reverse the driving direction midway and counts the number of pulses of a pulse signal from a sensor 108 inputted through a sensor driving circuit 109 after reversing the direction until it is decided that the lens is stopped. Then, it calculates a moving amount by which the lens moves after reversing the driving direction of the motor M3 as an overrun amount from the counted number of pulses and decides whether or not the abnormality occurs from the overrun amount.
