This metal carrier for a catalyst is formed by alternately superposing a corrugated plate 21 and a flat plate 22 both of which are composed of a metal material to wind them and bonding both of them to form a metal honeycomb member and housing this honeycomb member in a metal outer cylinder in a pressed state to solder the same to the outer cylinder 10. In this case, the metal honeycomb member 20 is constituted so that the corrugated plate 21 is positioned on the outermost periphery side and one layer of a solder foil material 30 is further wound around the corrugated plate 21, and the top parts 21a of the corrugated plate 21 and the inner peripheral surface 10a of the metal outer cylinder 10 are soldered and bonded through the solder foil material 30.
