Abstract:
To provide a method and apparatus for counter-gravity casting, capable of: improving efficiency; reducing cost; allowing use of the processes in a broader selection of locations; and allowing use of these methods and apparatus to be used in single crystal casting.SOLUTION: A casting chamber 16 is located generally above a fill chamber 14 with respect to gravity. A method and apparatus for counter-gravity casting utilize separate chambers for melting and casting, in which the pressure in each chamber can be varied relative to each other in order to introduce molten metal into a mold 48.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
