Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple production method capable of obtaining an aromatic monomer such as vanillin and a vanillic acid, which can be used as a raw material of a phenol resin and an epoxy resin, by using wood as a raw material with high yield.SOLUTION: An aromatic monomer is produced by a method including a step of adding oxygen, adding a quinone compound of 0.001-10 mass% per wood absolute dry weight, and subjecting the wood to soda digestion so that the liquid ratio is set at 5.0 or more, in the step of subjecting the wood to the soda digestion.SELECTED DRAWING: None
