Abstract:

PURPOSE: To simplify the production of a color selection device and achieve its improved yield and precision by producing the color selection device by simply curving a color selection electrode prepared by forming electron beam holes in a thin metallic plate and then fixing the curved electrode on a support frame.

CONSTITUTION: A color selection electrode 4 is made by forming a given pattern of electron beam holes arranged horizontally and vertically in a thin cold-rolled metallic plate. Next, after the thin electrode 4 is placed on a cylindrical support frame 5 having a front end surface 5a, the electrode 4 is simply curved along the front end surface 5a of the frame 5 by using force of within the elasticity limit so that the electrode 4 is not drawn. After that, the peripheral part of the electrode 4 is welded to the front end surface 5a of the frame 5. By the means mentioned above, the production of a color selection device for a cathode- ray tube is simplified and improved yield and precision are achieved.
