Abstract:

To provide a titanium slab capable of being fed to a hot rolling mill without passing through a break down step after melting or a correcting step after that, exhibiting excellent linearity (warping or bending is suppressed), having a normal structure without a break or a crack in a corner part, and produced by an electron beam melting furnace, and suitable for hot rolling, and a method for producing the same.

In this method of producing the titanium slab for hot rolling, a molten metal is simultaneously poured from both of a pair of short side casting mold walls of a pair of confronting long side casting mold walls and a pair of the confronting short side casting mold walls constituting a rectangular casting mold provided in the electron beam melting furnace, and a chamfer part is provided in the corner part of the casting mold.
