Abstract:

To provide methods and compositions for treating autoimmune diseases, not having toxic side-effects related to the currently used therapies.

Methods of treating autoimmune disorders (such as multiple sclerosis) employ administration of interferon-τ. The interferon-τ is originated from sheep IFNτ, bovine IFNτ, caprine IFNτ, ox IFNτ, rat IFNτ, mouse IFNτ or human IFNτ, and can be administered, for example, orally or through intravenous injection or intramuscular injection. The IFNτto be orally administered is preferably taken by a subject.
