To provide a movable type apparatus for in-situ continuous vitrification which increases a melting rate of a substance to be melted such as polluted soil by increasing the amount of current between electrodes on the upstream side in the direction of advance of the apparatus for vitrification and thus enables efficient execution of melting and vitrification and improvement of unit consumption of electric power for melting.
On a movable dome frame (the main body of an apparatus) 8 equipped with wheels 10 driven to rotate by a driving device, electrode rods 1 are disposed on the front and rear sides spaced at a prescribed distance from each other in the direction of proceeding (advance) of the dome frame 8, with a prescribed lateral space between them on each side. A movable type apparatus A for in-situ continuous vitrification is constituted by disposing the electrode rods 1 so that the lateral space between them on the front side is smaller than that on the rear side.
