Title:
NANO-PARTICULATE COMPOSITION OF HETEROCYCLIC AMIDE DERIVATIVE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2009149679
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a composition containing a nano-particulate heterocyclic amide derivative with improved solubility in water, and preferably zafirlukast nano-particles.

The nano-particles have an effective average particle size of less than about 2,000 nm, and are useful for treating asthma. A multiparticulate modified release composition comprising an active ingredient delivers drugs in a pulsed or bimodal manner during operation for treating asthma. A controlled release composition comprises an immediate release component and a modified release component. The immediate release component comprises a first population of heterocyclic amide derivative, preferably, zafirlukast particles. The modified release component comprises a second population of heterocyclic amide, preferably, zafirlukast nano-particles. In the controlled release component, the combination of the immediate release component and the modified release component delivers the active ingredient during operation in the pulsed or bimodal manner. The heterocyclic amide derivative can be released from the multiparticulate particles in an erosion-, diffusion-, or osmosis-controlled release system.
