To increase the quantity of data which are written or read at a time by arranging an information recording and reproducing means which can freely move in the different radius directions of an optical disk and performing the plural wiring or reading operations of the data to be recorded on the optical disk in parallel to each other.
An optical disk 32 is held by a revolving spindle motor 31 and three optical pickups 46a, 46b and 46c serving as an information recording and reproducing means are radially arranged on the top surface of a base 47 so as to freely move in the different radius directions of the disk 32. Then, these optical pickups 46a, 46b and 46c are moved in the radial direction of the disk 32 by moving means 42a, 42b and 42c, respectively. A system controller performs plural writing and reading operations of data to be recorded on the disk 32 in parallel to each other and then, distributes the divided data to be written and connects the read divided data together.
