PURPOSE: To form a small-size, simple optical switch by switching optical paths by utilizing the lens effect of a face plate, and reflecting projected light by a light reflector which contacts the face plate and switching the optical paths.
CONSTITUTION: The face plate 3a and reflecting mirror 3b are arranged in one body between two couples of optical fibers 1a and 1b, and 2a and 2b having mutually opposite end surfaces. Those face plate 3a and reflecting mirrors 3b are moved up and down to project light signals of the optical fibers 1a and 2a from end surfaces of the optical fibers 1a and 2a and make them incident on end surfaces of the opposite optical fibers 1b and 2b when the face plate 3a face the end surfaces of the optical fibers 1a and 1b, and 2a and 2b. When the reflecting mirror 3b faces the end surfaces of the optical fibers 1a and 1b, and 2a and 2b, projected light beams are reflected by reflecting surfaces 31a and 31b, so that the light signal from the optical fiber 1a reaches the optical fiber and the light signal from the optical fiber 2a reaches the optical fiber 2b respectively.
