Title:
OPTICALY CONTROLLED PHASED ARRAY ANTENNA
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01212004
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To attain miniaturization/light weight by using an optical signal output means and forming a circuit for beam scanning by a distribution means, a phase shift means and a deviation means.

CONSTITUTION: When the operator enters information representing a direction or beam, a direction controller 3 allows a prescribed DC voltage to be given from a variable voltage source 4 to optical phase shifters 16a∼16e and allows each DC voltage for phase correction to be given from a variable voltage source 5 to optical phase shifters 17a∼17e so that the beam direction of a microwave signal radiated from antennas 8a∼8e is in matching with the inputted beam direction. Thus, phase shift is applied and the microwave signal is radiated from the antennas 8a∼8e in the desired beam direction entered by the operator. Only one laser diode 1 is used and the circuit for beam scanning is formed on a dielectric substrate 100 with circuit integration, then miniaturization/light weight is attained.
