To obtain the PHS not needing installation of a signal line and a new radio receiver or the like, by providing a decode section decoding a tone signal or a voice signal received by a master set or a slave set and a control section providing an output of an infrared ray signal to operate an external electric device based on a decode result of the decode section.

The PHS is provided with a master set main body 11 connecting to a telephone network 2 to which a PHS base station 1 is connected, via a telephone line 2a, a decode section 12 connecting to the master set main body 11 and a control section 13. The decode section 12 decodes a tone signal or a voice signal received from a PHS slave set 20 or other telephone set, via a radio channel or a telephone line 2a. The control section 13 outputs an infrared ray signal S1 to operate an external electric device 30 based on the decode result by the decode section 12. Thus, remote control is attained at a low cost, without the need for installation of a radio receiver or a personal computer or the like.
